I recently replied to an e-mail forwarded to me by a good friend. He had found the ad on Craigslist. Any company that has talent registered shouldn't have to resort to that in the first place. A girl named Ashley sent me about five e-mails ranging from "register with us"...which I had been for years...to "send me pictures and I'll send you a confirmation e-mail showing your booked on Monday." I never heard back and tried calling and e-mailing several times. I finally had the staff@atnpromos answer me saying she had booked it. HOW UNPROESSIONAL. She didn't even have the deceny to return my call.

Where is this "repertoire of legitimate clientele"?
All I see is a list of brands that you worked for in the past. You were contracted as a rep, not an agency. These brands NEVER hired you or your agency to staff their events. The agencies that WERE hired (mine included) don't appreciate your false claims. I am not "harboring negative feelings toward your agency." I am calling you out as not being truthful in your practice.
I did mention that I appreciate your efforts and attempts to start a business, however I do not like seeing people claim something that is not theirs.
Thanks Chaz,
P.S. - SPELLCHECK!!!

I am sorry, but this has been posted way too many times.
Furthermore, this "agency" has claimed some clients that are NOT THEIRS!
If you look at their list of clients you will notice names like:
SONY, ARMY, Smirnoff, SoyJoy, Nintendo, Stride, Quizno's, X Rated and Fling.
NONE of these are Chaz Day's clients! None of these EVER even heard of FLAME PROMOTIONS! This guy worked as a promo rep while agencies such as EventPro, Ascent, Encore, and Pierce (just to name a few) were the firms and agencies involved.
This frustrates and annoys me to see nobodies start an agency and claim all these clients when all they ever did was give out samples for them.
I appreciate the efforts and attempts to start a business, but please be honest and STOP spamming these forums in hopes to get staff for events you don't have for clients you can't claim as your own.
The agencies involved know what you are doing and you will be issued a cease and desist letter if you do not take those names off your client list.
Thanks!

Has anyone ever worked with Cameo Marketing? They use a site called net~staff to get their staff. That's what it says on their site, but I can't find out what this "net~staff" thing is. Any ideas?

Great question, Cara,

As a staffer:

First, I try to come up with a solution - I feel that if I'm going to point out something negative to a superior, I need to suggest a way to fix it too. I'd bring that to my lead/manager in a respectful manner and if it didn't work (they didn't like my solution for whatever reason), I'd come up with another one. After two or three attempts, I move to plan B.

I'm sure you're familiar with the phrase "kill 'em with kindness" - when worst comes to worst, I accept that whatever I'm not enjoying will remain and make the best of it. I control what I can by becoming the most awesome staffer ever so that no one else notices (or at least maybe shifts the focus a bit from) the circumstances either. I just smile and remember that I'm being paid to follow someone else's rules - I focus on the idea that when I'm in charge, I expect my staff to respect my wishes, so when someone else is in charge, I have to do things their way (even if I don't think their way is the best way).

As a lead/manager:

I lay out the rules at the beginning and am open to my staff's comments, etc. If I can see that something isn't working, or an issue is brought to me, I look for a way to fix it. Granted, not every situation can be fixed.. but there are sometimes smaller improvements that can be made instead. Encouraging and appreciating my staff, actively listening to their concerns, and leading by example (maintaining a positive attitude and not being afraid to get my hands dirty) are some of the most important ways I can help my staff to feel respected.

I agree with Da Bes too, recognizing when staffers are near their breaking points is key to a successful event - if I can jump in and cover for someone so that they can take a 5 to refresh themselves, sometimes that's all that's needed and the event will be more successful from then on..

We all know we are going to have bad promos (i.e. seen in the eye of the beholder). What is also a given is that there are always ways to keep positive in an otherwise un-positive situation.

The way I deal with it is to find an ally. Just like when you were in school: Never be afraid to ask a question because at least one other classmate has the same question. That's to say, if you feel one way and it's a 6 BA team, then there's gonna be someone who feels the same. To stay positive, stray from too much gossiping and more on figuring out a solution. After brainstorming and finding no solution, give it a break, go back to working hard, and see if the problem might fizzle to where you won't have to worry about it.

Then again, it doesn't have to be a colleague who has the exact same mindset about the situation at hand. It can be a consumer you're talking with that makes you feel comfortable; take a break and chat a couple minutes. Even a tour manager would admit, it's better that a negative/bad BA takes a couple moments for his/herself to regain composure or to find a better place.

To tell you the complete honest truth, the thing that keeps me going through team negativity or long hours or aching limbs or bad weather is keeping the eye on the prize! Can't complain about the $$$$$'s!! Work it, people!

hi promo friends.

I'm writing this as both an event manager and a promo model.
95% of the work I do is a joy. Honestly, I've had some of the most fun times ever- while representing a brand. That is what is amazing about our work. We get to laugh, cheer, make friends with the consumers, and in general be peppy and positive.
There are those occasions though, where the fun has been zapped out. Perhaps a manager is mean or micromanaging to the point that you cant do your job well without fear of getting reprimanded. Or on even more rare occasions, the event is set up in a way that is sure to fail and the promo people are embarrasing them selves, etc and scaring consumers off.

I'm writing all of this with a particular experience in mind that I'm not going to share names because I dont want to tarnish a brand or marketing agency based on a manager.

Beyond this, as a manager myself, I try to be upbeat, light hearted and positive with my staff and above all effective.

As a promo model, I bring 110% of my energy and keep a smile on my face.

So heres the questions,
To the promo folks - how do you handle a terrible promotion?
To the managers - how to you retain staff and keep them feeling respected?

To end this on a positive note; Februrary has been good for me. All of these agencies have been amazing to work for this month. THANK YOU!

Very true. Some individuals have had to get retraining orders on TNT and file civil harassment charges for their repeated harassment and stalking young girls. Its pretty sick if you dig into it. You can further research them both on www.ripoffreport.com and www.complaintsboard.com I would urge anyone to do.

A local company in Des Moines, IA and a company in Evansville, IN. have teamed up over the past few years to create an internet scheme that is designed to rake in thousands have been successful up until now. An inside source from the company has delivered company information regarding both owners, Tina Norris and Theresa Catanese, proving their repeated embezzlement of large corporations and innocent victims across the U.S. to local law enforcement.

The two companies exposed are modeling companies used to promote products and services for clients such as Suave, Axe deodorant, Verizon, ect; The well known client seeks out what they believe to be legit modeling agencies to promote their new product throughout the U.S. In a proper setting, the agency is required to book the amount of jobs requested by client in a specific area of the U.S. Once the agency has put together a list of models ready and willing to work they are given locations and specifics about their contracted job for client. After the job has been completed, the model reports back to the agency in way of phone, fax to ensure their paperwork has been submitted, then it is the responsibility of the agency to submit the completed job info to the client directly. Once the client has received the confirmation from the agency they will in turn send out a large check covering payment of all models booked for that specific job cluster.

The C Taylor Agency and TNT Management have recently been exposed for submitting false information to their clients and forging documents
to appear job clusters have been completed. Both of these companies have recently been proven to collect large sums of money from their clients and refusing monies owed to models having completely executed job assigned to them. Many of the models were hired through job sites such as Craigslist and other sites from out of state. This business practice is illegal unless the business is licensed in the state in which they hire. Many of the models, not being with the companies state, have fallen victim to these companies having never received back wages. Several models of C Taylor Agency have been lucky enough to be within region and have sued for back wages and every case won.

Civil Harassment charges have been filed on TNT Management from a resource that set out to help the models of TNT Management and C Taylor Agency collect wages. The owner of TNT Management, Tina Norris, intently harassed and stalked a few of the model/employees for speaking out about the companies deceptive business practices and with the help of Theresa Catanese, tried to link a model inquiring about back wages to a murder charge in attempt to silence the model. Law suits will be pending for continued harassment from this company as well as sister company, C Taylor Agency, owner, Theresa Catanese.

Both companies have recently been discovered to be operating under alias, false addresses and false company contact numbers.
Below are alias' used as of now by Tina Norris.

Theresa Catanese, owner of C Taylor Agency, has used to following alias'

Recently, both companies banned together to create a separate business name to operate under to further collect funds from clients. The name of the business is Integrate. Tina Norris created this name and listed her mother, Linda Norris, rightful owner and operator of that business LLC in order to avoid denial from corporations due to her history of deceptive business practices. Linda Norris was shortly afterwards contacted by clients who had received suspicious emails and calls concerning back wages from models of "Integrate". Linda Norris, mother of Tina Norris, very quickly became suspicious and immediately withdrew all funds from the business account attempting to distribute monies back to clients and closed down that business name. Tina Norris at the time Linda Norris became suspicious, was in Florida vacationing on funds from the new business name Integrate. Linda Norris, learning of her daughters deception, quickly closed debit and credit cards Tina Norris took out on the new company name. Tina Norris returned to Iowa after funds from a friend were wired to pay her cost to return home to Iowa.

Tina Norris has not surfaced yet to assume responsibility for her business actions.

I worked for Team Enterprises 2008 for a Miller Lite promotion all of March. They paid on time.
I had no problems working for them.

Hey all,

I was wondering if anybody has worked for GMR on their Tobacco Nightlife programs. I'm curious to see what the job entails, what the hours are like, and the response the consumers have to the promotions.

I would feel horrible morally promoting anything relating to smoking however I need more work in the area and might want to consider this as an option.

Please let me know if you've done these ongoing programs.

I worked a guerrilla promo a few weeks ago for her at ASU's campus in AZ for 3 days. She seems very well prepared, I had received an email with a map of the location, paper work, program details, etc. I have been in the bizz for 5 years and understand all to well about the cleint/agency billing time frame. I have no worries that I will be paid around the usual 30 days.

Hey Adam,

Did you end up working with Team enterprises in the fall? What was your experience with them?
