i got my start with GMR working the bar programs. I did it for a few months until i got burned out. They have always paid me on time without fail. you make more money on tour with them though because you can bank all the per diem.

I feel ya guys i have managed events and had BA's Grill me while we were working. I'm like cool your jets ELROY. I ALWAYS and this is just my approach wait til after i'm finished with a job completely ask those questions. I literally mean all break down is done and were shaking hands on a good job. Sometimes i don"t even ask depending on the the tone of the situation. I say use your best judgement and don't be too anxious.

Oh and yes sometimes being a manager is not all that you think it's cracked up to be. I have made the choice to fall back on management positions b4 and just be a BA after assesing pay rate VS stress and workload.

Hey i figure if anything it can't hurt you to have one. i see brents point in that there are already a bazillion cats that have a cdl but the are just as many that don't. I personally am getting my cdl through a state grant ( no C.R.E.A.M from me) so i would look into local job training.

Devon you must have balls the size of mars because there seems to always be a great amount of people swinging from them. lol when you walk there must be like ten people dragging with you. keep doing whatever your doing i guess and bring some work to new orleans.

So i started training this week to get my CDL. WOW!!! The testing part is harder than being in the truck i think. I can't wait to get my permit next so i can do the road testing. Here's my thing i been thinking, after i get my CDL then what?? Anyone know of any good anvenues to go. I'm obviously going to get started by calling the companies i've worked with but i wonder is there like a starter process.

Also whats anyone's personal exsperince been as a new driver? after this i'm going to learn spanish it just seems like the route to go.

yeah man i been in contact with them for a month. I agree phil has been on it in terms of talking to me and keeping me up to date. The program doesn't launch down here until the 15th so i got a second. But i think it should be a fun gig for the summer.

So i've been in contact with them about the program they have running my area for summertime. I'm curious is anyone currently working this program for them? Also has anyone worked with them before?

Funny that you didn't mention anything about getting paid????????? If i didn't know better i would go as far to believe you guys know each other personally. If you read my earlier post i too stated that she returned my phone calls and emails BUT i'm still waiting see if she starts to do the slide out shuffle on paying me. Time will tell sorry but your ebayish A+++++ rating does nothing for me. Smell you later soccer Jocker

Thanks Jessisca

I appreciate the feedback. As i Stated i have nothing bad to say except fot the fact that like as much information as possible. Aside from that small tidbit i have no complaints about her. She was quick to return my emails and phone calls. I also like that i was able to discuss with my contract specifics. I don't blame her for the marketing company who was contracted by her that is a seperate issue for me.

My thing with this specific company ( who i would rather not mention) that was running this was that the field manager was a little disorganized. He showed smelling like liqour and kind of looked like he just rolled out of bed. At times he was so busy up the clients bootay ( yes i said BOOTAY) that our team was left we few instructions. I understand catering to the cleint but a manager needs to be able to muti task.

After i see how long it take to get paid that would determine for me whether i would like to work for lynne C again. As for now everything seems kosher

Shalom,

GQ

Wow this EPS thing is so crazy i really really feel for all the marketers that are getting screwed. I wonder if it will be like people say and they will go underground and surface as the same company by another name? The more i'm in this game more weirdness i learn. To wait so long to be jerked even more

God bless that lady she seems like she means well the event was all over the place. It was sunny for about an hour then the lord came down with thunder and lighting I'm not going to bad mouth her beacuse like i said she seems like she meant well. The one thing i'm going to say is that indie companies need to be specific in there ad's or should i say if you feel like you should ask something ask. What i was getting paid was ok but it was reasonable. The problem came when i was asked to set up and break down when that was not stated in the project details i got. Not that big a deal i just like as much information as possible on the front end. All and all i can't complain i did'nt gripe and in the end they loaded me up with a grip of stuff. I got enough laundry detergent, Fabric softener, shampoo, Mr Clean, Tide Eraser pens, clorox and toothpaste to last me through a nuclear fallout.

I saw your news flash G..KUDOs. I been on ES for a while now, i see people struggle and beg and whine and scrap yet you seeem like work is raining on you. The last guy that posted on here seemed like he was pissed off and he has 12 years under his belt. My question to you ( and i don't expect you to answer the meaning of life) but i wonder what is it that got you to this point. what i mean is does everyone need to start a company, get a cdl, do graphic design, be a webmaster ETC ETC to be able to blow off and grab jobs like so? I get work also i have freinds who have pretty sharp resume's and work. I don't see them manuvering like you. I might be wrong but i rarely see anyone post like you do. Just wondering? Maybe i answeresd my own question i guess you diversify? Everyone i know who freelances does but i'm speaking specifically about marketing. I'm saying all this without the intentions of being facetious or acrimonious. This just came to me and i wanted to throw it to the forum. I hope this is the area

I don't have your time under my belt G but i also have never waited 3 months for a check. I always read the contracts before i sign them. I feel for the people who have been done in though.

Thanks for the feed back i agree with all your points. I realize a little more money compared to my rep isn't worth it. Utimately in this kind of situation it would just be greedy and stupid.

oh and sorry dev your right i did put this in the wrong place

Brent i agree with what your saying about getting your feet wet but on your first tour were you doing four peoples job??? I'm working a local program right now getting paid in that ballpark and it works but i'm not doing four peoples job. I never have a problem working extra or pulling my weight it comes with the territory. I get the feeling your being sarcastic just to be sarcastic. As someone who has more road time than me i wonder whats your angle? and why you feel that way.

dude the sad thing is someone will take it in a heart beat. There are so many people that want to tour that will take a shaft. Whats suck is that there going to be on the road and realize that there doing 4 peoples jobs. These companies are silly though there really sacrificing the level of talent they are going to get pulling this kind of silly stuff. I can't wait until things get somewhat back to normal.

Wow i guess its tough being the new kid on the block people will hate you. Da bes says things that are very helpful at times but he previously even said that he was a bit jaded. I wouldn't take it to personal by the way i tried to register with your site but it was kinda faulty with the upload? I wouldn't jump at every cheap shot that is thrown at you, don't be ES's New Larry Hess

not at all i have been on various gigs where the tour manager or field manager only had a diploma. The main thing i've learned is that they just want hard working and realiable poeple. Keep in mind i'm not saying this to mean a degree doesn't help with all jobs, but its not always the deal breaker.
